MICHAEL VOLCHANSKY, age 90, formally of East Conemaugh, PA passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Emeritus of Manassas.
He was born on July 24, 1923 in Conemaugh, Pennsylvania to the late Louis and Mary (Perich) Volchansky. Mr. Volchansky was a WWII Army Veteran who served as a Medic receiving a Bronze Star. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and earned his Masters from American University. After 27 ½ years he retired from the C.I.A. where he successively held positions of increasing responsibility in the field of information handling and services.
He is predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Ann Volchansky; his parents and his three brothers: John, Charles and George Volchansky.
Survivors include his sisters: Virginia Ziner (Michael), Helen Guyan (Andy) and Mary Ann Glass; his brother: Paul Volchansky (Lois) and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 11:30 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, VA. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
