MANASSAS PARK, Va. — Weather-related damage to Signal Bay Water Park has been repaired and the pool will open on time this year.
Two cracks formed in the lazy river section of the water park, one at the handicap ramp and another near a walkway crossing, causing damage to a wall. The cracks were caused by weather deterioration over time.
Officials in Manassas Park, which operates the water park, initially got repair estimates of as much as $20,000 to fix the cracks. But the repairs only cost $5,000 when all was said as done.
“We had company that came in, patched it up, and filled up the pool and it is now running,” said Manassas Park Parks and Recreation Director Catherine Morretta.
The 27,000 square feet water park is a popular destination that sits inside Signal Hill Park on Signal View Drive. The park attracts between 20,000 and 25,000 people each year, said Moretta.
The park opens Saturday, May 24 and will be open weekends only to mid-June. The park will close on Labor Day.
