On Sunday, April 6th at approximately 5:00 p.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a structure fire in a single family home located in the 3200 block of Berkley Lane in Woodbridge.

Upon arrival, fire and rescue units observed fire in the basement that extended to the first floor of the home and through the roof. Firefighters proceeded to extinguish the fire and check for further extension. No further extension was found.

No injuries reported.

The residents, 2 adults, were not home at the time of the fire. Red Cross was called to assist the displaced family but their services were not required; the family had sought other arrangements.

A Building official assessed the residence and posted it as unsafe.
