As crews repair potholes from the recent string of winter weather, and some area roads are currently under construction, look out for these traffic hotspots, from a VDOT release:
Interstate 95
Monday – Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.; crews will be repairing potholes on I-95 north and south between mile marker 148 in Stafford County and mile marker 160 in Prince William County. One lane will be closed in this mobile work zone.
Tuesday and Thursday, 9 p.m. – 2 a.m.; crews will be repairing potholes on I-95 north and south between mile marker 148 in Stafford County and mile marker 160 in Prince William County. Two lanes will be closed in this mobile work zone.
Route 1208 (Furnace Road)
(Update) Sunday – Saturday, 24-hour closure. The road is closed to all traffic for an emergency repair. Crews are replacing two drainage pipes and repairing the road surface. Motorists should use Joshua Road or the most convenient alternate route as a detour.

Stafford County
Route 17
Route 17 is being widened from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The speed limit is reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph on northbound and southbound Route 17 between Cardinal Forest Drive and International Parkway. Motorists should be alert for periodic overnight lane closures. Project completion date is December 2016.
Route 1 Bridge over Aquia Creek
Crews are replacing the Route 1 bridge at Aquia Creek, located just south of Telegraph Road. Motorists should be alert to construction equipment entering and exiting the work zone and periodic lane closures. Estimated completion date is August 2015.
Falmouth Intersection (Route 1/Route 17/Route 218)
Utility relocation work is underway. Motorists should be prepared for brief delays and periodic lane closures on Route 1 just north and south of the Falmouth intersection. Construction work will begin in March 2014.
