VDOT to Hold Meeting on Falmouth Intersection Project

VDOT will be hosting a meeting, being called “Pardon Our Dust”, on Monday, March 3, to speak about the upcoming improvements to the Falmouth intersection in Stafford.

The improvements will cost $4.9 million in construction costs.

The meeting, which will be hosted at the VDOT Fredericksburg District Auditorium in Fredericksburg, from 5-7 p.m., will give residents and opportunity to meet with the construction team, view plans for the intersection improvements and address any questions or concerns they may have.

A presentation giving details on the project will take place during the event at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

More information from a VDOT release:

Construction will begin in March on a nearly $25 million improvement project at the intersection of Route 1, Route 17 Business, and Route 218 (Butler Road) in Stafford County.

The project will reduce the average wait time for drivers at the intersection. The intersection is being widened to make room for construction of new turn lanes and through lanes.

With more space for vehicles to pass through the intersection on each traffic signal cycle, the delay for motorists will be reduced.

The project will be completed in September 2015.

For anyone unable to attend the “Pardon Our Dust” meeting, all materials will be posted to the project website on Monday, March 3: https://www.virginiadot.org/projects/fredericksburg/route_1,_route_17_business,_and_route_218_butler_road.asp
