Northern Virginia Community College statement:Â
Northern Virginia Community College is monitoring the winter weather that is forecast for Monday December 9, into Tuesday, December 10, 2013.
There is the potential for snowfall and ice beginning Monday night and continuing throughout the day Tuesday. NVCC will remain open and maintain regular events and services on Monday, December 9th. However, some events may be postponed or canceled.
Please check with the event coordinator or event website for more information. Allow additional travel time to and from campus and plan activities accordingly.
The college will provide updates on NVCC operating status for Tuesday via NOVA Alert no later than 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 10. Please visit https://www.nvcc.edu, call 703-323-3000, and read NOVA Alert for the latest information.
George Mason University statement:
Administrative offices will open at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday December 10th due to inclement weather. The university will provide updates, if necessary, by 9:00 a.m. on Mason’s operating status via Mason Alert.
Reading Day and exams will continue as scheduled. Shuttle services will begin at 9:30 a.m. The winter storm may affect Tuesday morning rush hour and is forecast to impact the region Tuesday afternoon and evening. Traffic is expected to be heavier than normal and road conditions can vary from location to location. Please use good judgment and travel safely.

Manassas Park — Snow emergency in effectÂ
Statement:Â
A Snow Emergency in effect from 3:00 a.m., Tuesday December 10 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday December 10, 2013. Parking is prohibited on designated Snow Emergency Routes during this time. (Also See Snow Emergency Info – Ingles/Espanol Attachment Below)
Snow Emergency Routes in the City of Manassas Park are:
(1) Manassas Drive from Baker Street to Golf Court;
(2) Denver Drive from Manassas Drive to Rugby Road;
(3) Digital Drive from Manassas Drive to West Carondelet Drive.
(4) Matthew Drive
(5) West Carondelet Drive
(6) Polk Drive from Manassas Drive to Old Centreville Road.
The parking of any vehicles during this snow emergency on the above streets shall be prohibited. Vehicles in violation during this time period will be ticketed and subject to towing at owner’s expense.

PRTC OmniRide / OmniLink statement:Â
PRTC’s Snow Emergency Service Plan, ESP (including Snow Emergency routing), will be in effect for ALL PRTC bus services on the morning of Tuesday, December 10.
Rides on ALL PRTC buses will be FREE.
If weather and road conditions are predicted to improve by the afternoon, PRTC may resume operating regularly scheduled service for OmniRide, Metro Direct and Cross County Connector bus services.
*OMNIRIDE passengers are encouraged to park at commuter park and ride lots. Buses will take passengers to either the Franconia-Springfield or West Falls Church Metro stations, where they can transfer to Metrorail to reach their destination, with the reverse in effect for the return trip. During ESP, Tysons passengers will be dropped off at the West Falls Church Metro Station, where they can transfer to either Metrobus or Fairfax Connector to complete their trip, with the reverse in effect for the return trip. Passengers transferring to Metrorail or a neighboring bus system will be required to pay the appropriate fare.
*METRO DIRECT buses will operate according to published schedules; however, road conditions may cause delays. OmniRide and Metro Direct bus service during winter weather is dependent on Metrorail serving its above-ground stations. If Metro is expected to stop service in the morning, OmniRide and Metro Direct service may be cancelled for the entire day. If Metro service is suspended midday, OmniRide and Metro Direct service will operate until picking up passengers from the final Metro train.
*OMNILINK off-route trips are cancelled for today. OmniLink will remain on ESP all day. OmniLink buses will stop at all signed PRTC bus stops, and will serve regular routes except as noted in the Snow Emergency Plan.
*CROSS COUNTY CONNECTOR buses will operate according to published schedules; however, road conditions may cause delays.
Virginia Railway Express:Â VRE is Operating an “S” Schedule Today, December 10 Only trains with an “S” above its train number on the schedule will run.
