SHARE Packages Sold Through Sept. 16

MANASSAS, Va. – The nonprofit humanitarian organization House of Mercy will accept September SHARE food orders through Sept. 16.

That’s the next deadline in the nonprofit program that House of Mercy joined this year to make nutritious food available at low cost to local families. SHARE (Self Help And Resource Exchange) orders for September must be picked up on Saturday, Sept. 28, between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the House of Mercy, located at 8170 Flannery Court in Manassas.

As part of SHARE’s nonprofit food network, the House of Mercy offers the food packages at about half the price families would pay in a grocery store, and anyone can buy.

The September menu includes four packages: the “Prime Rib Special,” the “Seafood Special,” the “Value Package” and “Chicken Wings.” Orders include a $2 surcharge per package to cover transportation costs. The House of Mercy receives no profit from the sale of SHARE packages.

The “Prime Rib Special,” $34, includes a 4-pound fully-cooked roast, enough to feed six to eight people at about 8 to 10 ounces per person. The “Seafood Special,” $24, contains 6 pounds of salmon and tilapia, including two 2-pound packages of salmon and one 2-pound package of tilapia.

The “Value Package,” $22, consists of 1 pound each of all-beef meatballs, chicken breast fillets and ground turkey; four 4-ounce boneless pork chops; 10 ounces of frozen broccoli florets; fresh potatoes and 5 pounds of fresh summer produce. The “Chicken Wings” package, $16, contains a 5-pound bag of fully-cooked and individually quick-frozen wings.

Unless paying by credit or debit card, you must place your SHARE order in person at the House of Mercy, which accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover, cash, food stamps, EBT and money orders. No checks are accepted.

For more information or to order, call 703-659-1636 or email [email protected]. SHARE is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Washington.
