In Memoriam: Hildegard E. Reed

Hildegard E. Reed, known to her friends and family as Hilde, passed away at home July 30, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.

Born November 26, 1928 in Germany, she was the daughter of Phillip and Helene Neuser Striebich. On December 14, 1953 in Germany, she married, John E. Reed, who preceded her in death on June 4, 1978.

Hilde was an avid gardener and knitter, and was a longtime member and attendee of the Manassas Senior Center.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Survivors include one daughter, Irene Odell and her husband Craig of Manassas; one son, John P. Reed and his wife Diane, of Manassas; and two beloved granddaughters, Samantha and Danielle also of Manassas.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 3-5 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas. Funeral services will be held on Monday August 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Todd Tennant officiating.

Interment will follow in Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may take the form of a donation St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101.
