MANASSAS, Va — Water is rushing over the Lake Jackson Dam near Manassas at this hour.
It’s been a humid day full of heavy downpours and thunderstorms across the region. Now under a tornado watch, more thunderstorms are expected to impact the area during the late evening hours, according to the National Weather Service.
About 2 p.m. today, a flood warning was in effect for eastern Prince William County and southeastern Fairfax County as heavy rains caused flooding on streets and in streams.
Further south tonight, the Rappahannock River is expected to crest just below flood stage at 16 feet.

The dam is 85-years-old, showing signs of age, and is in the process of being repaired.
