STAFFORD, Va. -- One man escaped a burning townhouse with his life on Thursday after he jumped through a second-story window.
The blaze broke out about 2:30 p.m. at 30 Maple Drive in Stafford, near the countyâs courthouse. The fire took three homes, but originated in a two-story house. The blaze was so large a second alarm was triggered to help crews douse the blaze which was out by 3:21 p.m., said Stafford fire and rescue Asst. Chief Mark Doyle.
The man who jumped from a second story window did so before fire crews arrived. He was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.
