Womens Defense Class Planned in Dumfries

The Dumfries Police Department will conduct its 3rd annual “Self Defense Class for Women” on Thursday, May 30, between 7:30 and 9 p.m. This class will be held at the Dumfries Community Center located at 17755 Main Street.

All women who are residents of the Town of Dumfries and are 16 years of age or older are welcome to participate in the free instruction (individuals under 18 must have parents permission). Participants will learn how to:

· Decrease their chances of becoming a victim

· Learn self-defense tactics

· Learn how to use pepper spray as a defensive weapon.

Interested parties should contact Ms. Penny Shaffer at (703) 221.1111 to register and obtain additional information. This class is limited to the first 20 individuals who register. A Spanish speaking police officer will be on hand for translation.
