Virginia State Police have officially released the names of the two men on board a Piper Saratoga airplane that crashed in the Crane’s Corner area of Stafford County this morning.

In addition to Alberto Luis Toledo, 51, which Potomac Local News discovered earlier was the passenger and owner of the aircraft, Daniel Hoyt, 63, was on board serving as the pilot. Hoyt is from White Stone, and Toledo is from Irvington, according to Virginia State Police.

1:45 p.m.

Alberto Luis Toledo, 51, was being flown by a 63-year-old pilot to Stafford Regional Airport to pick up another passenger, according to sources. They were then going to fly to another airport, the location of which has not yet been determined. Toledo is the president of Total Security Products. The flight may have been business-related, but that has not yet been confirmed.

The aircraft suffered from a power loss on its approach to the airport, according to Virginia State Police. As it went down, it hit the top of some trees, then skidded in the mud until is collided with a parked bulldozer about three miles from the airport.

After the occupants were taken to the hospital, Potomac Local News observed that part of the inside of the plane had mud in it.

The Piper Saratoga that crashed in Stafford County this morning is owned by Total Security Products, based in Richmond but with offices in the Northern Neck region. The president of that company, Al Toledo, was in the airplane when it crashed, according to Virginia State Police.

Reports indicate the plane lost power as it came into land at Stafford Regional Airport. The plane took off from Hummel Air Field in Saluda, Va., at 6:25 a.m., and was due at Stafford Airport just before 7 a.m., according to flight information filed this morning.

Two men were taken to a local hospital this morning after their small aircraft crashed in Stafford County.

The two men suffered injuries that appeared to not be life threatening, said Stafford fire and rescue Assistant Chief Mark Doyle.

Is described as a 2006 Piper PA 32 single engine aircraft that was en route to Stafford Regional Airport. The plane crashed onto a 125-acre farm on Crane’s Corner Road and collided with a bulldozer on the property. The owner of the farm told Potomac Local News that, luckily, the plane collided with a side of the bulldozer that did not contain the gas tank.

There is no reported HAZMAT situation.

Doyle said Virginia State Police and the FAA have been called into investigate the crash.
