PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY,Va. — Prince William County’s new police chief was sworn into to office at a special ceremony Friday afternoon.
Stephan M. Hudson took the oath of office before Honorable Rossie D. Alston, Jr., Court of Appeals of Virginia.
“I Stephan M. Hudson do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia. On my honor I will never betray my badge, my integrity, my character, or the public trust that has been placed in me. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for our actions. I will always uphold the constitution, my community, and the agency I serve. And in doing these things, I pledge that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent upon me as Chief of Police of Prince William County according the best of my ability, so help me God.”
According to police officials, Hudson has 30 years of service on the Prince William County Police Department.
Chief Hudson has served with the Prince William County Police Department for 30 years. He was appointed Chief of Police in February. Most recently, he served as Assistant Chief of the Operations Division and the Criminal Investigations Division (CID). He served as the Commander of Special Operations, Internal Affairs, and the Vice/Narcotics Bureau, and also supervised units in CID, the Criminal Justice Academy, and Patrol. Prior to becoming a supervisor, he served on the SWAT Team and was an Instructor at the Academy, a plainclothes detective and a patrol officer.
Chief Hudson is a graduate of American Public University with a master’s degree in criminal justice. In addition, he has a bachelor’s degree in business management from National-Louis University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Professional Executive Leadership School at the University of Richmond; and the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police.
Chief Hudson is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the FBI National Academy Alumni, the Police Executive Research Forum, and the Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation, among others.
