STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — Five people now face charges in connection with a shooting in North Stafford.
The dragnet for the suspects spanned from Manassas, Stafford, and Prince William, and included the help of the ATF and police departments from the respective jurisdictions.
The arrests all stem from a Jan. 29 home invasion that took place about 11 p.m. in the 3900 block of Jefferson Davis Highway in Stafford County. Investigators said five men are believed to have entered the house and shot two men in their thighs.
That was after they put a gun to the back of a female who fled into back room and was cowering on the floor, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
The two shooting victims suffered injuries that appeared to be non-life threatening.
Two days later in Manassas, police arrested 26-year-old Clayton George Smith and subsequently searched a home in the area. There they found evidence pinning Clayton to the home invasion, said Kennedy.
Another crack in the case came Friday when four more people were charged in connection to the shootings.
Keith Williams, 20, was found inside of a hotel in Prince William County.
Carvel Williams, 27, was arrested while walking in the Williamstown section of Dumfries, said Kennedy.
Jalil Barryman, 23, was arrested at his workplace in North Stafford, and Lawton Berryman, 23, was arrested during a traffic stop in Prince William County, added Kennedy.
All five men face charges of malicious wounding, breaking and entering, and robbery. Stafford authorities have not said what led to the home invasion.
