MANASSAS, Va. -- The following is the latest police incident report for Manassas:
Convenience Store Robbed
The Manassas City Police Department is investigating the robbery of the āWellington Marketā at 9911 Wellington Road. The robbery occurred at approximately 5:31PM on Tuesday, January 1, when a man wearing a mask and brandishing a kitchen knife entered the store through the front and proceeded to take money from the cash register. He quickly exited and fled behind the business toward Sandalwood Drive. According to a witness, he then got into a parked, dark colored, Honda CRV and left the area. The witness was not able to copy a plate number. Witnesses described the suspect as a black male, between 5ā11ā and 6ā2ā tall, weighing between 170 and 200 pounds, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, black gloves and black pants. The witnesses also stated that his hood was up and his face was covered. He did not make any statements and was only in the store for approximately 18 seconds. This robbery is similar in method and suspect description to two previous robberies at the Wellington Market on October 20th and 23rd, 2012.
