Lillie G. Jessie, newly elected School Board member for the Occoquan District, is expected to take the oath of office next week. She will join the School Board on the dais at the Board’s next regular
meeting on Tuesday, November 20. She replaces Dr. Michael Wooten, who has served on the Board on an interim basis since his appointment to fill the Occoquan District vacancy created by the spring 2012 resignation of Board member Grant Lattin.
Jessie retired in the 2010-11 school year after a 35-year career in Prince William County Public Schools, 20 of which were served as principal of Vaughan Elementary School [in Woodbridge.]

In Dumfries, Gwen Washington will be sworn Tuesday night into a new permanent term on the Town Council. Washington won reelection Tuesday. She was appointed to the Town Council last year following the death of Mayor Fred Yohe.
Washington won one of two open seats on the Town Council. At least three write-in candidates competed for the second seat, and Prince William County election officials have yet to certify a winner in that race.
