WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A townhouse in Woodbridge is a total loss after a fire ripped through the vacant structure early Friday.

Friday’s blaze comes one year after firefighters were called to the same house to douse a fire.

The fire broke out about 1:30 a.m. Friday at 14825 Winding Loop in Woodbridge. A neighbor called 911 to report the blaze at the end unit town home and then ran to the home next door to help evacuate a neighbor, said OWL VFD spokeswoman Rebecca Barnes.

The house was fully involved when fire crews arrived making the effort to extinguish the fire a defensive operation. It took longer for fire crews to douse flames because they could not enter the home.

The area around the house has been cordoned off as there is a danger of collapse, added Barnes. A fire marshal is on the scene working to determine the cause of this morning’s fire, and no one was injured.

The three-story townhome was vacant when flames broke out at the structure about the same time in the early morning last year. Witnesses reported the home was occupied by homeless residents.
