Sports continue during the off season at the Manassas Boys & Girls Club.
Children between the ages of five and 17 are making good use of open gym. During the week, gym time is made available to members to play basketball and keep their skills sharp for the Fall League and there is already a buzz in the air about the upcoming season.
CJ Jones plays in the league three times a year, and this year won’t be any different. CJ plans to use the experience as a stepping stone.
“I’m trying out for the freshman team in high school this year so I’m definitely playing at the Boys & Girls Club. I’m trying to get as much practice in as I can before try outs,” he said.
Although CJ is a seasoned veteran of BGC basketball, the club has its share of newcomers as well.
John Contreras will register for the first time.
“All my friends play in the league and they really like it. We have all been coming here after school and shooting around and it’s fun so I decided to play this year too,” he said.
