NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — Zombies are about to overrun North Stafford, and it’s all for a good cause.
Mainstreet Bar and Grill will hold “zombie dance practice” Sundays Wednesdays at 5 p.m. starting Sept. 5. It’s part of a larger, global effort to “Thrill the World” where fans of the late Michael Jackson will hold impromptu dances on Oct. 27.
Our local zombie thrillers will pack the parking lot outside Mainstreet Grill and Bar once they’ve learned all their dance moves.
“Basically, there are seven sets of moves in the dance and I’ll be breaking down and demonstrating one of the seven sets each time, then practicing the whole dance at a super-slow speed. Clearly, not everyone will know the full dance; it’s just an opportunity to follow along and be silly,” said Valerie Webber, who teaches swing dancing and has partnered with the restaurant in this event,” said Valerie Webber, swing dance instructor at Lindy in the ‘Burg.“I have a small stereo system and a headset and we’ll just be using the lower dance floor area of the restaurant.”
It’s free to come to the practice sessions and participate in the dance. The organizers of the event have asked participants bring a food donation to each dance practice to benefit the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank.
