WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A pedestrian was killed Saturday near the Potomac Plaza Shopping Center on U.S. 1 in Woodbridge. More from a police press release:
Crash – Fatality – On August 25th at 8:25PM, police responded to the 13700 block of Jefferson Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) for a crash involving a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that a pedestrian was crossing Jefferson Davis Hwy when he stepped into the path of the driver, and only occupant, of a 2004 Ford Expedition who was traveling northbound on Jefferson Davis Hwy.
The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he died later that evening. The driver of the Expedition remained at the scene. Alcohol appears to have been a factor on the part of the pedestrian who was attempting to cross the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk. No other injuries reported.

The pedestrian has been identified as Noel Antonio MEJIA AYALA, 34, of Woodbridge
The driver of the 2004 Ford Expedition has been identified as a 40 year old man of Washington DC
