Crime Watch: Daycare Provider Faces Neglect Charge

Dale City

Brandishing of a Firearm – On August 26th at 7:15PM, police responded to the area of Jefferson Davis Hwy and Dale Blvd in Woodbridge (22191) for a brandishing. The victims, a 21 year old woman and a 28 year old man – both of Woodbridge, reported to police that they were traveling on Dale Blvd, approaching Jefferson Davis Hwy, when an unknown vehicle cut them off and slowed down. At a traffic light, the victims pulled their vehicle alongside the suspect vehicle. At this point, a front seat passenger displayed a firearm and began waiving it around. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported. The suspect vehicle continued on southbound Jefferson Davis Hwy.

Residential Burglary – On August 26th at 6:30AM, police responded to the 4100 block of Anderson Rd in Dumfries (22026) for a burglary in progress. Homeowner reported to police that his alarm activated and upon checking the residence, he observed an unknown man inside his attached garage. There were no gins of forced entry into the garage. Entry is believed to have been made through an unlocked side door. No entry was made into the main residence and no items were reported missing.

Woodbridge

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On August 25th at 11:46PM, police responded to the Shell Gas Station located at 3186 River Heritage Blvd in Dumfries (22026) for a shooting. A store clerk reported to police that he heard a gunshot coming from the parking lot and two unknown men running from the area. The clerk reported seeing the two men talking to an individual in a vehicle which drove away shortly before the gunshot was heard. No casings were located and no victims came forward. The men fled the area prior to police arrival.

2 black males, both reported to be between 18 & 20 years of age—

1st male was reported to be around 5’9” / 165lbs, thin build with black hair

Last seen wearing all dark clothing

2nd male was reported to be around 6’0” / 180lbs, medium build with long, black dreadlocks

Residential Burglary – On August 25th at 9:22AM, police responded to the 3100 block of Chesapeake Dr in Dumfries (22026) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 1:00PM on August 23rd and 8:30AM on August 25th. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made through an unsecured window. Jewelry, 3 gaming consoles and relates equipment, a cell phone and other items, valued around $5,700, were reported missing.

Abduction / Abuse and Neglect – On August 24th, detectives from the Physical Abuse Unit assisted Child Protective Services with an investigation into alleged abuse which was reported to have occurred in the 1900 block of Brooke Farm Ct in Woodbridge (22192). The investigation revealed that on August 22nd, the victim, a 4 year old girl of Woodbridge, was placed in an unlit utility closet, with her hands tied behind her back, for approximately 10 minutes by the accused as a form of discipline. The accused runs a licensed day care out of the residence. Other children were present at the time of the offense, however no other abuse was reported. A search warrant was also executed at the residence. Following an investigation, the accused was subsequently arrested.

Strong Armed Robbery – On August 26th at 2:14PM, police responded to the 12200 block of Dillingham Sq in Woodbridge (22192) for a robbery. The victims, a 50 year old man and a 48 year old woman – both of Woodbridge, reported to police that they were in a parking lot in the above area when a group of 3 males and 1 female approached them. The group assaulted the male victim and took an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency from him before fleeing the area in a vehicle. The female victim was able to get the tag number of the suspect vehicle and give it to investigating officers. Officers stopped the vehicle in the area of Kenwood Dr and Haddock Rd where all 4 suspects were arrested without incident. Minor injuries were reported.
