Crime Watch: False Police Report Pinned to Homeowner

Filing a False Police Report – On August 22nd, detectives from the Property Crimes Unit concluded an investigation into a reported burglary with an arrest. During that investigation, the homeowner reported to police that a Prince William County police officer had entered his residence on June 6th and stole numerous items, in addition to, deleting files from his computer. On that date, officers were dispatched to the residence for an alarm call. On August 17th, detectives executed a search warrant and conducted follow-up interviews with the homeowner. At that time, detectives were able to determine that the homeowner, now the accused, had falsely reported the burglary and had falsely accused the officer of the crime. Following the investigation, the accused was subsequently charged.

Lewis Ross BROWN III, 44, of 14706 Darbydale Ave in Woodbridge

Charged with filing a false police report

Court date set for September 25, 2012, held WITHOUT bond

Burglary (Previously Released) – On June 7th at 9:00PM, police responded to the 14700 block of Darbydale Ave in Woodbridge (22193) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 10:00AM and 10:20AM on June 6th. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made through an unsecured rear sliding glass door. Miscellaneous items, valued around $1,000, were reported missing.

Dumfries

Attempted Residential Burglary – On August 22nd at 3:06PM, police responded to the 2900 block of Brent Ridge Ct in Dumfries (22026) for an attempted burglary. Homeowner reported to police that between 6:00AM and 3:00PM, an unknown

Lake Ridge

Armed Robbery – On August 23rd at 12:34AM, police responded to the 2800 block of Chablis Cr in Woodbridge (22192) for a robbery. The victim, a 23 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were at her residence in the above area. During their encounter, the accused allegedly displayed a knife and demanded the victim’s medication. The accused took the medication and left the residence. No injuries were reported. The accused was located by Fredericksburg Police in Fredericksburg and was detained without incident. Following an investigation, the accused was subsequently arrested.

Charged with robbery

Court date set for October 5, 2012, held WITHOUT bond

Triangle

Residential Burglary – On August 22nd at 1:04PM, police responded to the 18400 block of Cabin Rd in Triangle (22172) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 8:30AM and 1:00PM. Entry appeared to have been made through a rear door which had been kicked open. Jewelry, valued around $8,700, was reported missing.

Person(s) attempted entry into the residence through a rear sliding glass door which had been tampered with causing the outer pane window to shatter. No entry appeared to have been gained into the residence and no items were reported missing.

Woodbridge

Residential Burglary *ARRESTS – On August 22nd, detectives from the Gang Unit made two arrests in connection to the burglary which occurred in the 1300 block of Saxon St in Woodbridge on November 23th of 2011. One of the suspects, the juvenile, was located at his address in Woodbridge where he was arrested without incident. The second suspect, GARCIA-TORRES, is currently serving a jail sentence on unrelated charges at the Rappahannock Regional Jail in Stafford where the warrants in reference to this case were served. Both suspects are known MS-13 gang members. The firearms reported missing in the burglary were recovered during the investigation.

Charged with burglary, grand larceny, larceny of a firearm with intent to sell or distribute and unlawful possession & transportation of a firearm

Arrested: (Juvenile)

A 17 year old male of Woodbridge

Charged with burglary, grand larceny and larceny of a firearm with intent to sell or distribute

Court date unavailable, held at a Juvenile Detention Facility

Residential Burglary (Previously Released) – On November 28th at 4:29PM, police responded to the 1300 block of Saxon St in Woodbridge (22191) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 7:30AM on November 24th and 6:30PM on November 25th. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made through an unsecured window. Three firearms, including 2 long guns and 1 handgun, in addition to, ammunition and a carrying case, total value around $970, were reported missing.
