Manny Ojo is ready for the summer basketball season at the Boys & Girls Club. Manny has been playing organized basketball at the Manassas Boys & Girls Club since he was six-years old. This season he is playing for the Thunder and he has high hopes.
“I hope we win the championship. I think we will, our team is really good and we have practiced a lot,” he said.
Manny, 9, came close to a championship last winter, but his team fell just a little short. Last February, the Gators faced off against the Raptors in the Championship game for the 9-10 year old division. Manny’s Gators played a hard fought game, but fell just short as they lost by four points.
Summer games began on Monday. Manny and his team will have to play hard through 8 regular season games to make it back to the playoffs to have another chance at winning the championship. When asked: What does your team need to do to win it all this year? Manny said, “We need to hustle, play hard, and do the things that coach taught us in practice.”

On January 25th, we invite you to experience the magic of Galette des Rois, a 700-year-old tradition celebrated across France throughout the entire month of January (and even beyond!). This sweet, almond-filled puff pastry topped with a golden crown isn’t just a treat—it’s a celebration! The lucky person who finds the fève (a porcelain charm hidden in one of the slices) becomes the King or Queen for the Day, and don’t worry—there will be plenty of royalty to go around! ??
But that’s not all! In France, Les Voeux (New Year’s wishes) continue throughout January, often accompanied by Champagne and good cheer. We’re bringing that festive spirit to you, with a lively evening packed with French food, wine, and music.
