Lake Ridge Man Headed to Democratic Convention

LAKE RIDGE, Va. — Keith Scarborough has been elected as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention which will take place on September 3-6 in Charlotte, N.C.

He was elected last weekend at the 11th Congressional District Democratic convention in Falls Church.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to attend the national convention and vote to re-nominate President Obama and Vice President Biden. Barack Obama’s final campaign rally in 2008 took place at the Prince William County fairgrounds and he won 56 percent of the vote here the next day. We will be a key battleground area again this fall,” said Scarborough.

A Lake Ridge resident, Scarborough is an attorney for an advertising trade association in Washington, D.C. He was the coordinator of the local campaign in Prince William County for Barack Obama in 2007-2008.

Scarborough is a member of the Democratic Party of Virginia State Central Committee and served as Chairman of the Prince William County Democratic Committee from 2000-2002. He was appointed by the circuit court in 2007 to the Prince William County Electoral Board and is currently serving as Chairman.

The Virginia delegation to the Democratic National Convention will include 123 delegates and nine alternates.
