PRTC Honored for 25th Anniversary Campaign

The Virginia Transit Association (VTA) announced that it has selected the Potomac Rappahannock Transit Company (OmniRide) as the recipient of the “Celebrating Success” award at its awards luncheon held in Fairfax, Virginia on May 18, for their “25th Anniversary Celebration” program.

In September 2011, the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission, PRTC, marked its 25th anniversary with a month-long celebration focusing on three separate audiences in the Prince William County area: the general community, passengers and staff members, and state and local dignitaries.

During the community celebration, the public enthusiastically responded to PRTC’s request for donations to benefit two area food pantries and homeless shelters. To thank passengers and staff, PRTC held multiple contests to increase awareness of its services and generate enthusiasm about public transportation. And lastly, state and local dignitaries were publicly thanked for their support at a dinner reception.

As a result of these anniversary events, PRTC experienced an increase in ridership, website visits and views of its Facebook page. And of course, the milestone anniversary events enabled PRTC to demonstrate its importance as a transportation provider, community partner and employer.
