DRY OUTSIDE CONDITIONS REMAIN
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — Continued dry conditions in the area prompted Stafford County to once again ban all outside burning.
The latest order from the county’s fire marshal is the latest in a series of orders that came last week cautioning residents not to burn outdoors due the dry and windy conditions. While wind is not a factor today, dry conditions remain and the ban will stay in place “until further notice.”
The region saw high temperatures today in the low 90s, and the warm weather is expected to stick around through the early part of the work week. Showers are possible on Wednesday, and again this weekend, with high temperatures ranging between the upper 60s to mid-70s between Wednesday and Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Today’s ban comes after wildfires ignited in portions of Stafford County last Tuesday.
Flames broke out Tuesday afternoon on Cliff Circle in North Stafford and in Falmouth at the bridge that carries U.S. 1 drivers over the Rappahannock River. No one was injured in the brush fires and all were contained.
