1 Nabbed in Stafford Bus Fire

NEW DEVELOPMENTS

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — Little is known about the suspect authorities in Stafford County say they have in custody following a school bus fire last week.

Stafford fire and rescue spokesman Mark Doyle said late Friday night a juvenile now faces charges in the case of a school bus set ablaze in the parking lot of Ferry Farm Elementary School on March 31.

As is standard procedure in cases involving juveniles, Doyle did not give the suspect’s name because of his juvenile status. But officials also declined comment on the suspect’s age or if he was a student at Stafford County Public Schools.

“We are not releasing that info at this time,” stated Doyle in an email.

Fire officials this week put out a call for help, which included surveillance video taken about the time of the fire, in identifying suspects in the case, and through the help of the media a suspect was identified, according to Doyle’s press release.

The suspect faces charges of destroying personal property, manufacture, possession, use, of fire bombs or explosive materials or devices, conspiracy to comment a felony, and trespassing, stated Doyle.

More charges are expected to be filed in the case, he added.
