Gun Threat Unfounded

Update 10 a.m.

Though extra security remains in place at Potomac Senior High School, it’s business as usual there today.

School officials notified parents last night of graffiti found inside a bathroom stall that suggested a student might bring a gun to the school today. So far, there have been no signs of anything suspicious.

“We’re pleased to say it is an ordinary school day as Potomac HS, in spite of some extra security precautions in place to ensure the safety of students and staff,” stated Prince William County Public Schools spokesman Philip B. Kavits in an email.

Police were called into investigate and found no evidence of a credible threat.

Kavatis said students, staff, and faculty all cooperated in making this a normal school day at Potomac Senior High School.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Prince William County police told NBCWashington.com they are increasing patrols at Potomac Senior High School in Woodbridge following a gun threat.

The website reports graffiti left in a bathroom stall at the school indicated someone was going to bring a gun to school today.

Parents learned about the potential threat from a phone call from the school system Monday night.
