Pr. William Dems Will Hold Convention

Prince William County, Va. –– The Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) will hold its State Convention on Saturday, June 2 at the Patriot Center at George Mason University. Prince William County will have 111 delegates and 22 alternates at the state convention. They will be elected at a countywide caucus to be held on Saturday, April 21st from noon to 4 p.m. at the McCoart Government Center.

Any Democrat who is a registered voter in Prince William County is eligible to run for delegate or alternate to the state convention. There is a $25 filing fee and persons interested in running must pre-file with Harry Wiggins, Chairman of the Prince William County Democratic Committee (PWCDC), by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 16.

Filing forms and more information about the delegate selection process are available at pwcdems.com

The county caucus on April 21 is open to any Democrat who is a registered voter in the county. There is no fee to participate in the caucus. Those persons elected at the county caucus on April 21 will also attend Congressional District conventions in May.

Keith Scarborough, the Chair of the PWC Caucus, stated: “This is the first time in anyone’s memory that the state Democratic convention has been held in northern Virginia. This is a great opportunity for Prince William County Democrats to meet Democrats from across the Commonwealth, hear great speeches, wear funny hats and wave signs and get fired up for the fall campaigns.”

The Virginia delegation to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 3-6 will include 123 delegates and 9 alternates. Sixty nine of those National Convention Delegates and seven National Convention Alternates will be elected at eleven Congressional District conventions in May. The rest will be elected at the state convention on June 2.
