Dumfries, Va. — A driving force behind the Democratic Party in Prince William County passed away Sunday.
Kevin English, who was active in the Prince William County Democratic Party for 38 years and a former Dumfries Town Council member, died in his real estate office in Dumfries from a massive heart attack, Democratic sources said.
English helped to convince Democratic candidates Babur Lateef, who took on current Prince William Board Chair Corey Stewart, and Esteban Garces, who ran against Delegate Mark Dudenhefer (R-Stafford, Woodbridge), to run last fall.
“Kevin was always willing to contribute his time, effort and resources in an unselfish manner in support of my campaign and work as a Delegate. I am truly appreciative of the friendship that Kevin extended to not only me but my staff and my family,” stated Delegate Luke Torian (D-Dumfries, Woodbridge) on his website.
A twice mayoral candidate in Dumfries, English was passionate about issues that affected the town, often allowing use of his office space for political causes.
As 2012 is  a big  election year, English was already working on Democratic causes and issues facing voters this fall.
Prince William Neabsco District Supervisor John Jenkins said English often helped him during his many campaigns, distributing literature and being a dedicated campaign worker.
“Kevin grew up here, everybody knew him, and he was very active in this community in Prince William and in Dumfries. He will be missed by everyone who knew him,” said Jenkins.
