Tipple: Osprey’s Food Dazzles

Stephanie Tipple

While the outdoors may be cold and blustery, if you take one step into Osprey’s Landing in Belmont Bay in Woodbridge you’ll be instantly warmed with their cozy atmosphere, the fireplace and one of their delicious entrees.

The reopened Osprey’s Landing restaurant has seen great success thus far, drawing in customers from all over the county and beyond. Like any good (hungry) journalist would do, I re-visited this local hot spot with my dining companion, local Lake Ridge Bloom pharmacist Amy Forrest, and sampled some of their dishes for to give you all the information you need to know when considering stopping by and eating at their establishment.

Autumn Salad

The First Course

The Greens – This earthy salad with fresh and local ingredients hits the spot with just the right amount of balsamic dressing, with great texture and a nice punch of caramelized onions for added flavor.

Autumn Salad – With the theme being autumn, this salad felt relevant and fresh, with a nice acidic dressing balanced by the presence of bleu cheese crumbles and walnuts, with fresh cranberries.

Fresh Rolls with Homemade Maple Syrup Butter – This slightly sweet and flavorful butter perfectly complemented the fresh rolls, which were gladly devoured within seconds.

The Entrée

Organic Grilled Chicken Breast

Organic Grilled Chicken Breast and Mushroom Foam with Red Potatoes – The presentation of this dish was superb, and while the bright red mashed potatoes were a bold color choice, the chicken was tender and perfectly most, complementing the asparagus side dish.

NY Chipotle Loin – This steak loin was excellent, and the chipotle rub was surprisingly mild. The presentation was highly creative, with potatoes stacked to create a base for the loin. The honey mustard drizzle complemented the flavor of the potatoes very well.

The Dessert

Waffle Bread Pudding with Orange Zest – This dessert, one of the favorites of Osprey’s Food and Beverage Manager Rich Davila, was delicious, and was a highly generous portion. This waffle bread pudding would be coupled well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Eggnog Crème Brule – This crème Brule, which changes in flavor every two days, was fresh and the eggnog flavor came through perfectly, and was paired well with the sugar glaze and fresh berries.

Overall, Osprey’s Landing is a great restaurant with many offerings that will meet the budget and tastes of almost any diner. The atmosphere, staff and ambiance add to the experience, and if you’re in Belmont Bay or playing on the golf course, then stop in and try it for yourself.
