Charges filed in shooting
A man from Nokesville has been charged in a shooting last June in Lake Ridge.
Police reported a shooting into a home in the 3000 block of Seminole Road off Antietam Road in Lake Ridge. Two homes were struck by bullets, but an investigation revealed shots were fired after the alleged gunman had a dispute with the owner, according to police.
No one was injured in the shootings, and police said new information obtained through their investigation led to an arrest.
Richard James Ocksrider, 20, 8626 Arbee Court in Nokesville, is charged with two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling and with attempted malicious wounding, according to police. He was held without bond.
Gun brandished on parking lot attendant
A man checking parking decals in the Willowbrook neighborhood off Featherstone Road in Woodbridge had a gun put in his face, police said.
Police were called at 11:14 p.m. New Year’s Eve to the 1300 block of Redbud Court after where a 33-year-old man from Stafford said a man walked up to him, pointed a handgun at him, and told him to leave, said police.
The victim has a contract with the home owner’s association to check for valid parking permits, said police.
When police arrived, the suspect was seen entering a house where police went to obtain more information about their suspect, police said.
Kevin Harold Logan, 31, of Redbud Court is wanted for brandishing, said police. He’s described as white, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 135 pounds, thin build, bald, with blue eyes.
Man, Stafford teen sought in burglary
Police are looking for a Stafford teenager and a Woodbridge man are wanted in connection with a burglary.
Police were called to the 5000 block of Kapp Lane in Woodbridge, off Ridgefield Drive, at 1:47 a.m. for a report of a larceny. In a burglary that took place New Year’s Day, police said someone broke into the home through a locked window and took three TVs, a laptop, and two gaming consoles, all valued at $2,000, said police.
A 4-door Nissan Xtera was also stolen from the victim’s driveway, said police.
Police conducted an investigation and determined they’re looking for two males who are both wanted for possession of stolen property.
Christopher Laquan WHITAKER, 18, of 5009 Lynwood Drive in Woodbridge, is described as black, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 140 pounds, thin build, with black hair, and brown eyes. A 17-year-old male from Stafford is also wanted, though his description was not provided.
Stafford deputies charge Woodbridge man with DUI
A man from Woodbridge faces DUI charges in Stafford County. Deputies said a man was speeding while driving on Chatham Heights off Va. 218 in south Stafford County.
When a deputy pulled behind the driver, the car made an abrupt turn into a parking lot, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
Deputies stopped the car, spoke with the driver and charged the driver.
Felix Laureano, 52, of Woodbridge, is charged with DUI and driving on a revoked license, said Kennedy. This is Laureano’s fifth DUI charge in five years and his second driving with a revoked license in 10 years, said Kennedy.
Items stolen from church, building damaged
A big screen TV, cash, and monitor for a camera system were stolen from the North Stafford Church of Christ in the 500 block of Shelton Shop Road between Sunday and Tuesday, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
Cabinets were rifled through and a door frame damaged. The intruders appeared to have gained entry to the church through an unlocked side door.

(AP) — Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow Sunday and predicted six more weeks of wintry weather, his top-hatted handlers announced to a raucus, record-sized crowd at Gobbler’s Knob in Pennsylvania.
Phil was welcomed with chants of “Phil, Phil, Phil,” and pulled from a hatch on his tree stump shortly after sunrise before a member of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club read from a scroll in which he boasted: “Only I know — you can’t trust A.I.”
At approximately 2:45 P.M. on Saturday, February 1st, units with Stafford County Fire and Rescue (SCFR) responded to a reported structure fire in the 100 block of Aquia Creek Road, near Aquia Creek. Callers reported a neighboring residence on fire, and first arriving units marked the scene less than 10 minutes later and confirmed fire and smoke coming from the rear and roof of a single-family residence.
Due to a lack of hydrants in the area, crews had to utilize rural water operations to shuttle water to the scene. Crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire and bring it under control in approximately an hour, despite the roof collapsing.
The residence was not occupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The fire is under routine investigation by the Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office. SCFR units were assisted on scene by Quantico Fire and Emergency Services.
