Stafford, Va. — Susan Stimpson is expected to be named Stafford County Board of Supervisors Chairman this evening.

Sources tell PotomacLocal.com the Republican will replace Del. –Elect Mark Dudenhefer (R-Stafford, Woodbridge) who is heading to Richmond for his new post in Virginia’s House of Delegates.

The Stafford Board is scheduled to meet this evening and is expected to vote Stimpson to the seat. Stimpson on Tuesday declined to comment due to the fluid nature of the proceedings.

Stimpson, who is serving her first term on the Board, was elected the Falmouth District Supervisor 2009, replacing former Falmouth Supervisor and Board Chairman George Schwartz who did not seek reelection.

As the seat is not an At-large seat, she will continue to represent the residents of the Falmouth District while presiding over Board meetings.

Last month, Stimpson told PotomacLocal.com the new chairman should have the ability to work together with other parties as well as represent the best interests of all county residents.
