At 9:46 a.m., Virginia State Police were called to a two-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of Interstate 66 just west of Exit 47 for Route 234 in Prince William County. A Chevrolet Lumina was westbound on I-66 in the center lane when it turned left across the HOV lane. It appears the driver was attempting to turn into the emergency cross-over in the median. A westbound Ford Ranger pickup truck traveling in the left lane was unable to stop in time and struck the Chevrolet Lumina in the driver’s side.
The driver of the Chevrolet Lumina, an 89-year-old Manassas woman, died at the scene. State police are still in the process of locating and notifying the woman’s next of kin.
The driver of the Ford Ranger pickup truck and his passenger were both transported to Prince William Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The drive was a male teenager and the passenger a female teenager. Both were wearing seat belts.
No charges will be filed. The crash remains under investigation at this time.

The Stafford County Animal Shelter is celebrating another heartwarming adoption story. Dax, a tri-colored Beagle, arrived at the shelter as a stray in September 2024. Despite his friendly demeanor and gentle nature, Dax spent 68 days waiting for someone to notice him. No one came forward to claim him, and potential adopters often passed him by.
Throughout his stay, shelter volunteers ensured Dax received plenty of care, exercise, and socialization. They took him on outdoor adventures and showered him with affection, but Dax’s longing for a forever home remained.
That changed when a family finally recognized Dax’s charm and decided to adopt him. His new owners report that Dax has fully embraced his new life, earning the title of “ultimate snuggle bug.” Whether it’s curling up on the couch or nestling under a pile of blankets, Dax has quickly become a cherished member of the family.
