Crime Watch: 40 Warrants Issued in Vandalisms, Woman Sexually Assaulted

3 issued more than 40 warrants in vandalisms
Authorities say three teenagers went on a drunken vandalism spree on Christmas Eve.

More than 40 cases of mailboxes being smashed and knocked off their posts, as well as side mirrors mission from vehicles were reported in connection to the spree, in the Park Ridge, Austin Ridge, Augustine, and Amy Clay neighborhoods, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

The vandalism happened between 12:15 and 12:45 a.m. Christmas Eve, when police received phone calls from neighbors stating their mailboxes had been damaged and a silver sedan had been seen fleeing the area. Another caller also reported seeing a baseball bat used to knock over the mailboxes, said Kennedy.

Sheriff’s deputies began searching for the sedan and eventually stopped car that matched its description on Northhampton Boulevard, said Kennedy.

Inside the car was a baseball bat, alcohol, and three teenagers who were eventually charged, said Kennedy.

Matthew Hokana, 19, of Greenspring Drive in North Stafford, is charged with DUI and underage possession of alcohol, said Kennedy.

Stefan Haas, 19, of Bridgeport Circle in North Stafford and Dakota Thompson, 19, of Thornberry Lane in North Stafford, are charged with drunk in public and underage passion of alcohol, said Kennedy.

The following day as more calls came in about properties in the area that had been vandalized, all three were served with more than 40 additional warrants in connection to the vandalisms, said Kennedy.

Stafford woman assaulted in Dumfries
A woman from Stafford was involved in domestic dispute on Christmas in Dumfries, police said.

Officers were called to the 17000 block of Mine Road about 1:50 a.m. Sunday after when a woman – an acquaintance of the 46-year-old female victim—pulled out a knife and began swinging it at several people inside the residence, said police.

The victim tried to take the knife from the woman and was cut in the process, said police. The woman was arrested without incident.

Christine Yvone Skinner, 64, of 17019 Mine Road in Dumfries, is charged with malicious wounding, said police.

Burglary to a Business – On December 25th at 2:06PM, police responded to the Navy Federal

Credit Union located at 2898 Dale Blvd in Woodbridge (22191) for a burglary. Employees reported to police that the burglary occurred between 8:10PM on December 24th and 2:08PM on

December 25th. Entry appeared to have been made through a rear door of a vacant business next to the bank. Once inside, the suspect(s) broke through an adjoining wall which accessed the bank. The security cameras and alarm system had been disabled by the suspect(s) prior to entry.

An undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency was reported missing.

Burglary to a Business – On December 25th at 6:28AM, police responded to the Primemed Urgent Care located at 3928 Lansing Ct in Dumfries (22026) for an alarm. Police arrived and discovered the front door had been pried opened. No entry was believed to have been made due to the alarm activation. No items were reported missing.

Burglary – On December 22ndat 9:24PM, police responded to the 4100 block of Presidential Hill Lp in Dumfries (22025) for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 8:30PM on December 21st and 6:30AM on December 22nd. Entry appeared to have been made into a partially opened overhead door of an attached garage. An unlocked vehicle located in the garage was also entered, as well as, an unlocked vehicle which was parked in the driveway. No entry was made into the main residence. An iPod, GPS and other items, valued around $1,200, were reported missing.

Attempted Burglary – On December 24th at 5:26PM, police responded to the 13600 block of

Cridercrest Pl in Woodbridge (22191) for an attempted burglary. Homeowner reported to police that between 11:00AM and 4:25PM, an unknown person(s) attempted entry into the residence through front door which had damaged consistent with it being kicked as if to try and force it open. No entry was gained and no items were reported missing.

Sexual Assault – On December 22nd at 5:46PM, police responded to investigate a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred in the 2100 block of Potomac Club Pkwy in Woodbridge (22191). The victim, a 22 year old female of Hartford Ct, reported to police that she was sexually assaulted by the accused, a known acquaintance, while she was sleeping at a family’s residence in Woodbridge. The accused was arrested in charged in reference to this incident.

Burglary – On December 22nd at 9:49AM, police responded to the 6200 block of Oscar Ct in Woodbridge (22193) for an alarm. Police arrived and discovered entry had been made through an unsecured rear sliding door. A witness observed three unknown males, later identified as the BRENT suspect and the

2 listed male juveniles, hopping the fence to the rear of the residence. The witness was able to provide police with vehicle information. Police located the vehicle at 5041 Lynwood Dr. There, the four accused subjects listed below were located. A search of the residence was conducted and located were two firearms, including 1 shotgun and 1 handgun. It was later determined that the two firearms recovered had been taken from a residence in the 7000 block of Token Valley Dr which had been burglarized earlier in the day. Entry into that residence was made through a rear door which had been kicked open, however no alarm was present. In that burglary Christmas presents, including an iPod, camera, a gaming console, jewelry and other items – total property valued around $8,200, had also been reported missing. Most of those items report missing were also recovered during a search of the Lynwood address.

Two of the accused resided at 1459 Ranger Lp where a search warrant was executed. No items of note were recovered. The following arrests have been made in these cases. The accused, RINALDI, was determined to be a lookout in the aforementioned burglaries.

Home Invasion – On December 22nd at 6:51PM, police responded to the 14300 block of Westminister Ln in Woodbridge (22193) for a home invasion. The victim, a 22 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he had just stepped outside of his residence to retrieve his mail when he was approached by two masked men. One of the men displayed a handgun and both men forced the victim back in his residence. Once inside, the men took an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency and a cell phone from the victim before fleeing. No injuries were reported. This incident is not a random act. Investigation continues.

Changing the name of Dulles International Airport to Donald J. Trump International Airport has been proposed by freshman Congressman Addison McDowell, a Republican from North Carolina.

Rep. McDowell, 31, who represents the 6th Congressional District, introduced the bill alongside Reps. Brian Jack (R-Ga.), Riley Moore (R-W.Va.), Brandon Gill (R-Texas), and Guy Resand Guy Reschenthaler (R-Pa.).

Legislation to provide free breakfast to public school students across the state is moving forward in the General Assembly with committees set to review the cost, Virginia Mercury reports. 

Sen. Danica Roem, D-Manassas, and Del. Elizabeth Bennett-Parker, D-Alexandria, are leading the charge after a similar effort fell short last year. Bennett-Parker’s bill was shelved by the House Appropriations Committee due to competing priorities while Roem’s Senate bill was following an amendment by Gov. Glenn Youngkin directing a work group to evaluate the program’s potential impact.

More than two weeks after a power outage set off a series of events that crippled Richmond’s water treatment plant, Virginia regulators are putting the city on notice that it may have violated state law and are launching their own investigation into what went wrong, the Richmonder reports.

“The water crisis should never have happened and was completely avoidable,” wrote an official with the Virginia Department of Health’s Office of Drinking Water in a notice of alleged violation issued Thursday. “The City of Richmond could have prevented the crisis with better preparation.”

A majority of the residents who spoke during Wednesday’s public input session about Fredericksburg’s proposed Technology Overlay District acknowledged or even supported the city’s pursuit of data centers.

Rather, it’s the terms and timetable governing said pursuit that comprised most of their questions asked during a joint meeting of the Planning Commission and City Council.

More than one speaker noted that adjacent jurisdictions, such as Stafford County, have taken up to six months from initiating the public process to voting for a data center. By contrast, Fredericksburg’s city council first discussed a Technology Overlay District in detail on Dec. 10 and could vote on related resolutions and ordinances as early as its Feb. 25 meeting.
