Members of the art faculty at the Woodbridge Campus of Northern Virginia Community College are displaying their artwork in the 4th floor gallery until Dec. 16. The exhibition includes paintings, drawings, photographs and a video. Full-time faculty Rosemary Gallick, Fred Markham and Gail Rebhan are joined in the show by several adjuncts.
“The exhibition is a teaching and learning experience,” Gallick said. “For example, we give assignments based on the show, such as asking students to select three artworks and discuss art techniques used. The show is also a gathering spot where faculty, staff and students share ideas on art and other discussions that may unfold.”
Gallick’s latest celebrity portraits were inspired by Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris.” Her artworks range from an unfinished rendering of Woody Allen on canvas to highly embellished, mixed-media portraits of Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and Vincent Van Gogh.
Gallick, longtime professor of art and art history at the Woodbridge Campus, has created a series of portraits that focus on popular icons, from rock and roll musicians to political figures and other celebrities that dominate popular culture. She has exhibited nationally and her artwork has been featured in “Elan” and “Northern Virginia” magazines.
Markham is assistant dean of humanities at the Woodbridge Campus where he teaches painting and drawing.
Rebhan is head of the Woodbridge Campus Photography Program. Her work appears in many public collections including the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum, J. Paul Getty Museum and Polaroid Corporation.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. The Woodbridge Campus is located at 15200 Neabsco Mills Road. To learn more, contact Gallick at [email protected].

On January 25th, we invite you to experience the magic of Galette des Rois, a 700-year-old tradition celebrated across France throughout the entire month of January (and even beyond!). This sweet, almond-filled puff pastry topped with a golden crown isn’t just a treat—it’s a celebration! The lucky person who finds the fève (a porcelain charm hidden in one of the slices) becomes the King or Queen for the Day, and don’t worry—there will be plenty of royalty to go around! ??
But that’s not all! In France, Les Voeux (New Year’s wishes) continue throughout January, often accompanied by Champagne and good cheer. We’re bringing that festive spirit to you, with a lively evening packed with French food, wine, and music.
