Congressman Gerry Connolly said the unemployment rate in both Fairfax and Prince William Counties dropped again in October, a sign that Northern Virginia’s economy remains strong.
The latest statistics from the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) show the unemployment rate for Fairfax County in October was 4.2 percent, down from 4.6 percent in September.
In Prince William County, unemployment dropped to 5 percent in October, compared to 5.4 percent in September.
“Northern Virginia continues to have some of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation, thanks to our robust and diverse economy, our strong IT and contracting sectors, and our proximity to the federal government,” Connolly said.
“Our efforts in Northern Virginia to attract quality businesses, including Fortune 500 companies, that provide quality employment to our residents, has helped us weather the recession,” Connolly said.
