Log Truck Crash Snarls I-95

Update 5 p.m.
The driver of the logging truck that crashed on Interstate 95 this afternoon was not injured, but crews are still working to clean up the mess.

A tractor trailer loaded with logs crashed on I-95 south prior to Exit 130, Va. 3, just after 3 p.m., said Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.

A “substantial amount of debris” fell onto the highway, said Geller.

 Update 4:45 p.m. 
The right lane and right shoulder of southbound I-95 are now open to vehicle traffic at Exit 130/Fredericksburg. Equipment is at the incident scene to remove logs blocking travel lanes.

Update 4:40 p.m.
U.S. 1 in Stafford County is now experiencing heavy delays following the crash of a logging truck on I-95 in Fredericksburg. 

The heaviest delays are now reported from Centreport Parkway south, near Stafford Airport, but traffic is delayed on U.S. 1 beginning at Va. 610 in North Stafford.

Fredericksburg, Va. –– Interstate 95 south in Fredericksburg is closed after a tractor trailer carrying logs crashed.

The three southbound lanes of the highway are closed prior to Va. 3, near Central Park.

Congestion in the area is starting to build at Falmouth, said Virginia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kelly Hannon.

The crash was reported by VDOT just before 4 p.m.

Public safety officials recently gathered at Dunkin’ Donuts locations from Stafford County to Manassas to meet with community members in two separate events fostering engagement and conversation.
