Photos of Bank-Robbing Woman Released

Police identified the woman in these surveillance photos taken during a bank robbery in Springfield this week as Stephanie Lynn Schwab, of Manassas. (Submitted)

Fairfax County, Va. — There are new photos of a woman who robbed a bank in Springfield this week, which was just one incident in a string of cases that has captured the attention of Northern Virginia residents.

The woman in the surveillance photos is 26-year-old Stephanie Lynn Schwab, of the Manassas area, police said. The photos were taken inside a BB&T Bank branch in Springfield that was robbed about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The woman walked up to the teller, implied she had a weapon and demanded money and then fled, said police.

Schwab has also been tied to the robbery of a Virginia Commerce Bank near Manassas on Nov. 18 where again the female robber walked into the bank, implied she had a weapon and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The day after the Manassas robbery, police suspect Schwab carjacked a woman outside a popular mall in Tysons Corner after she walked up to a woman in a parking lot, said she was out of gas, and asked for a ride. After the woman invited her inside her car, the female carjacker drew a knife and ordered the woman out, police said.

No one was injured in any of these cases, but nonetheless, police said they have warrants on file and are ready to arrest her.

Schwab has a previous criminal record, as she was charged in Prince William County in 2007 with grand larceny but there was not enough evidence to prosecute, according to court records.

In addition to several charges in Fairfax County, she was fined $2,500 after she failed to appear in court in 2006 on a misdemeanor charge, according to court records.

Schwab has no fixed address, but she is described as white, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with blonde hair and green eyes. During the latest robbery she wore a plaid coat, dark pants and boots.
