Stafford County, Va. -- Stafford officials are touting a recent award recognizing the county’s process of budgeting public funds and services.
The county won the Distinguished Budget Recognition Award from the Government Finance Officers Association. The group examined how county leaders stick to their outlined budget as a driver to set public policy, how well it serves as a financial plan, as well as strengths and weaknesses in communication.
Earlier this year, the Stafford County Board of Supervisors passed a $241.2 million budget that included a reduction of the number of county government employees and a decrease in real estate taxes.
