PRINCE WILLIAM — The National Federation of Independent Business, along with the Virginia Association of Realtors®, including the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors® and the Prince Williams Association of Realtors®, and NVTC’s TechPAC, the political action committee of the Northern Virginia Technology Council, announced their endorsement of Senator George Barker for re-election in the 39th District and State Senator Chuck Colgan for re-election in the 29th District.
“Senators Colgan and Barker have been proven allies for small businesses throughout Virginia, and we are proud to announce our support,” said Nicole Riley, State Director of NFIB/Virginia, Virginia’s leading small business association. “We believe Senator Colgan and Senator Barker will continue to take a fiscally responsible approach to managing state government and support efforts that help our small businesses grow and create jobs.”
“Senators Colgan and Barker have consistently shown their commitment to the technology community. They have been strong leaders in advancing policies and investments to attract technology companies of all sizes to locate and grow in Virginia,” said Josh Levi, Vice President for Policy with NVTC. “We are confident they will continue to champion technology and innovation to promote a stronger Commonwealth.”
“Realtors® appreciate legislators who can work across party lines to find common sense solutions – that’s why the Virginia Association of Realtors® is proud to endorse Senators Colgan and Barker,” said Jay DeBoer, Vice President for Law and Policy with the Virginia Association of Realtors®. “Now more than ever, we need legislators who will protect the interests of homeowners and their investments in their communities.”
“Senators Barker and Colgan together constitute one of Richmond’s most effective legislative teams when it comes to business issues. Drawing on an endless reserve of passion and persistence they’ve done what it takes to keep Virginia the number one state for business,” stated Brian Gordon, Vice President of Government Affairs in Virginia for the Apartment and Office Building Association.”
I am grateful for the vote of confidence from some of Virginia’s leading business organizations,” Senator Colgan stated. “Working together, we have maintained and enhanced Virginia’s hard-earned reputation as one of the most business-friendly and lowest tax states in the nation, and I look forward to using my seniority and experience to help Virginia’s businesses continue to prosper,” he added.
“Having the support of Virginia’s small businesses, realtors, and technology community is an honor,” Senator Barker said. “Their commitment to my re-election proves that the initiatives I have fought for over the years have worked. I am committed to ensuring that Virginia’s top ranking as the best place in the nation to do business remains intact.”
Barker and Colgan are seeking re-election on November 8. The 39th District includes Prince William County, Fairfax County, and the City of Alexandria. The 29th District encompasses Prince William, Manassas, and Manassas Park.
