Basketball Leagues Forming

Stafford County, Va. — It’s time for children and teenagers to sign up for a basketball league for Stafford County Parks and Recreation.

Boys and girls between the ages of eight and 17-years-old are encouraged to sign up in organized leagues that will play their games at middle schools in Stafford County on week nights and Saturdays.

Middle and high school students who plan to try out for their school teams should indicate their intention on their tryout form and their tryout fees will be refunded once they make the scholastic teams, according to Stafford officials.

Children and teenagers have until Sept. 30 to register. Tryout fees for children between eight and 12-years-old are $60 for county residents, $70 for non-county residents, and ages 13 through 17-years-old will pay $66 for county residents and $77 for non-county residents.

Late registrations should include a $10 late fee. Click here for more information and to contact Stafford County Parks and Recreation.

Team Formation

All players will be selected by a draft for each geographic area. The draft will be conducted by the Sports Division staff and the coaches in each age group. (The coach’s child and assistant coach’s child will be protected in the draft.) Team, coach, and car pool requests will not be recognized in the draft. Inspired by local physicians who were among the nation’s first to adopt the concierge medicine model, Northern Virginia is now a hub for its surging popularity. These leading physicians are redefining the patient experience with same-day appointments, direct availability, unhurried visits, and deeply personalized care:

After almost 40 years in practice, Manassas-based Internist John Cary, MD’s change to concierge medicine enabled focused attention for each individual, and the launch of his innovative diet program for those with type 2 diabetes. “The goal is to promote enough weight loss to reach an acceptable A1C of 6% with no medication,” he explains. “Achieving that can take several months of very close follow up. As I tell my patients, we are in this together.”

Jay Tyroler, MD considers his patients quite literally as family. “I believe there’s nothing more honorable than helping patients when they’re sick, or scared, or feeling vulnerable, and I care for them exactly as I would my loved ones.” Whether for a specialist referral, urgent health issue or ongoing follow up, “My patients know I’m always just a phone call away.”
