Leesylvania to Remember River Blockade

Woodbridge, Va. — Following their victory at the Battle of Manassas, Confederates shifted their focus to the Potomac River and an eventual blockade of Union shipping traffic to Washington.

Leesylvania State Park will remember the Blockade of the Potomac River this weekend as part of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War. The state park has several events planned to commemorate the event including a boat ride and a hot air balloon.

Visitors will be able to park their cars at Leesylvania State Park for free this weekend for the events.
