Child Sex Suspect Arrested

Marco Martinez Mejia, 34, faces several sex charges in Stafford County, police say. (Submitted)
Stafford, Va. –– Police used the internet to find a man charged with having sex with a 13-year girl.

Authorities on Wednesday learned a 13-year-old girl from Stafford had sex with a 34-year-old man several times, some instances at the man’s home, over the last few months, police say.

During an investigation by the Stafford sheriff’s department, a female deputy learned about a website that the suspect used, assumed the victim’s identity and contacted the suspect.

The deputy had several conversations with the suspect, and he believing she was the 13-year-old girl whom he had sex with, set up a meeting in the area of Red Oak Drive and Courthouse Road in Stafford, said sheriff’s department spokesman Bill Kennedy.

At 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, the suspect arrived on time for the rendezvous and was arrested without incident.

Marco Martinez Mejia, 34, is charged with four counts of carnal knowledge, four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and with use of electronic means to solicit a minor, said Kennedy.

He was held without bond and his court date was not released.
