Lorton, Va. –– Jose Murillo has some of the best looking strawberries at the Lorton Farmer’s Market.
His farm, Mt. Olympus Farm in Ruther Glen, specializes in bright red, tasty strawberries and they put them on display for everyone to see.
It takes a while to get the perfect strawberry. We put them in the ground in October and we most times we have to keep water on them to keep them from frosting,” said Murillo.
He’s one of about 10 vendors at the market held between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sundays, between May 1 and November 7, at the Lorton Virginia Railway Express station.
In addition to strawberries, there is sweet corn, sweet treats and even something for the pet at home.
It’s one of Murillo’s favorite markets to come to because of the people who shop here, and because he is able charge a little more for his goods then he can at the Dale City Farmers Market, which he also participates in.
