Severe Thunderstorms Warning Until 4 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Fauquier, Prince William and Stafford counties until 4 p.m.

A strong line of severe thunderstorms containing winds of 60 mph or more were indicated moving north east at 20 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

A strong line of thunderstorms are developing to the south of the Potomac Communities.

The main line of strong storms are moving through the Fredericksburg area, but are expected to move north as the evening progresses.

As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, flash flood warnings had been issued for Spotsylvania and Fauquier counties, while the Potomac Communities remained under a flash flood watch.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue this evening, some of which could be strong and contain heavy downpours and hail, according to the National Weather Service.

The chances for rain will continue through the rest of the week, with thunderstorms possible through Friday, according to the weather service.
