Stafford, Va. — The county’s Board of Supervisors has before them today a proposal to include Va. 630, between Red Oak Drive and Stafford Avenue into the Courthouse Streetscape Improvement Project.
The project includes adding historic-style streetlights, new street signs, new trees and more pedestrian-friendly sidewalks in the area along U.S. 1 and Courthouse Road.
The Board today will decide if they will allocate $206,000 for the design of the Va. 630 portion of the project.
Between 2008 and 2010, Virginia awarded the county $7.8 million in funds to go to the streetscape project.
The board of supervisors will also review a plan for safety improvements on Bells Hill Road today.
Officials want to spend $48,500 in money in proffers from developers to improve a portion of the road long known to be narrow and uneven after several developments have been built along the road.
The county’s staff has recommended funding both projects.
