Prince William County, Va. –– Lisa Reinshuttle, principal of Henderson Elementary School, died last week  following a long battle with cancer.

Staff at Henderson Elementary in Montclair said school counselors will be available through the end of this week to speak with children affected by the loss of their beloved principal.

Reinshuttle, 57, worked for Prince William County since 1995 when she began a job as principal at Antietam Elementary School in Lake Ridge.

She also served as director of curriculum services from 2000-2007, followed by her time as principal at Henderson.

Associate Superintendent for Central Elementary Schools Todd Erickson worked with Reinshuttle during her time at Henderson and said she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

“She was compassionate, dedicated, and completely devoted to her students” Erickson shared.

According to Prince William County Public Schools, a funeral mass is planned on Saturday, March 19 at 10:30 am at St. Raymond Penafort Catholic Church, 8750 Pohick Road in Springfield. There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Capital Hospice, 2900 Telstar Court, Falls Church.

In addition, school staff said that they are working with Reinshuttle’s family to select a date for a memorial at the school so that students can have a chance to say goodbye.

In addition to her work through with the school system, Reinshuttle was also a wife and mother and is survived by her husband, Ken, and two adult children, Austin and Lauren.
