Stafford County, Va. –– Expect more antique fire trucks, motorcycles and aircraft at this year’s Wings and Wheels Festival.

The annual event will once again be held at Stafford Regional Airport on Centreport Parkway, from 10 a. m. to 4 p.m. Saturday Oct. 15.

Event organizers are also working on an air show that will feature local pilots who have performed at events across the nation.

“We are in talks with various pilots who live in the area about coming to perform for our show, and we’ll release more information about who they are after they agree to perform,” said Stafford Regional Airport spokesman Ed Wallis.

The event will still offer free admission, though donations will be asked for at the door and will go to charities like scholarships, grants, shelters and housing councils all supported by the Stafford Rotary Club. Wallis assures attendees no one will be turned away from the event if they cannot donate.

A highlight of last year was when toy cows from Chick-fil-A were dropped from a plane that flew over the airport.

Unbeknownst to those who caught the cows and took them home, they actually on loan to the festival and were supposed to be returned.

This year, Wallis hopes to work out an agreement to where attendees can keep the toys when they are dropped from a plane again this year.

There are also plans to have more vendors at this year’s festival, up from last year’s 36 businesses and organizations that set up at the festival to advertise their products and services.
