Water main repaired

U.S. 1 in Woodbridge, at the intersection of E. Longview Drive and Prince William Parkway.

Update 12:15 p.m.
It was a 10-inch water main the burst this morning on U.S. 1 in Woodbridge, cutting water service to about 12 businesses and some residents of a nearby mobile home park.

Water service had been restored by Noon in the area of the break, at Mt. Pleasant Drive near Marumsco Plaza.

Crews got the call about the break about 4 a.m. and were on the scene less than an hour later.

The service authority uses a reverse 911 system to notify customers about service outages, and to see if customers in a particular area are without water.

“Our service dialed 127 customers this morning, and that’s not to say 127 customers were without service, we just want to be sure that anyone who could potentially be affected by the outage is contacted,” said Prince William Service Authority spokesman Steven Clark.

Crews were expected to finish breaking down equipment used during the repair and clear the scene within the next two hours.

Police officers were called to the area to help direct southbound traffic on U.S. 1 around the break.
